GCE O Level MTL ORAL & LC Examination (Updated 30 June)

Dear all,

O Level exam oral schedule is updated. You can find the schedule here.

To our dear Year 4s,

It has been an eventful year and we hope that you are taking all the changes and new social norms and practices in your stride.

We are almost at the end of our 4 weeks of HBL and during this time your subject tutors have continued covering the syllabus and assessing your learning through a variety of assignments. Some teachers may continue to engage you over the coming holiday if they feel that it is needed to help you prepare for the GCE O Level Examinations. Do be positive and engage yourself actively in these lessons.

Changes to School Terms, holidays and O Level MTL Exam dates

You should know by now that a number of changes have been made to the above. We have compiled the information for your convenience. It is in your attachment.

Curriculum Recovery from 26 - 29 May.

Week 4 of the 4-week holiday [26 - 29 May] has also been allocated for curriculum recovery through Home-based Learning [HBL]. You will find the timetables for all classes in one of the attachments. Only some subjects will be conducting lessons during this time. Please ensure that you are computer ready and punctual for all your lessons.

Timed-Practices

With the O Level Exams not too far away, we feel that it is important to assess your learning to determine the gaps so that we have sufficient time to carry out remedial action to help you. As such, you will be sitting for a number of Timed-Practice papers for all subjects from 3 - 26 June. The timetable for this and the scope of coverage for each subject is attached. We trust that you will spend the coming weeks in preparation for these timed-practices.

Please download all 3 attachments. If you can, print and place them prominently at your study space so that they are a constant reminder of your study commitment over the next few months. We encourage you to also find a little time to update your diary with the new dates.

We wish you a restful, safe and productive vacation.

Dear Students,

1. To help ensure a safe learning environment and safe-guard against intrusions, we will be performing a central password reset on all students' G-Suite accounts at 7.00pm today.

2. Students will be prompted to set a new strong/complex password (12 characters or more using a combination of letters and numbers). You are not to share the new password with others.

3. Please be informed that you must use your SJI G-Suite account to access your teacher's Google Meet sessions. Your teachers have been advised not to admit any student who is using another email account to request for access.

4. Please complete the G-Suite account password reset by 7.30am, Monday, 20 Apr '20. P.S. To Form Teachers, kindly follow up with your students on Monday morning check-in time (7.45am - 8.00am) to check that students in your class have reset their G-Suite password.

For your immediate actions, pls.

Please refer to the infographic below on how to reset your G-Suite password.

Dear Y4OP students,

We will be starting our Home-Based Learning (HBL) tomorrow, Wednesday, 8th April 2020. It now becomes very important for you to be both personally accountable and self-disciplined. The efficacy of HBL will be very dependent on the role that you play. You are trusted to be on-task, and you are trusted to be able to manage yourself maturely and responsibly. The lesson plans for your various classes and your HBL time-table are attached with this email. Please refer to them daily for clarity on your lessons.

Please note that for the duration of the HBL period, you must check your school email daily and regularly.

Additionally, it is important for you to upkeep your daily routines for the sake of your own well-being.

Important NOTES

1. You are to take your HBL seriously and be actively engaged in your learning.

2. You are to log into Google Meet by 07:45 am for contact time with your Form Tutors. During the contact time, you will:

  • Conduct temperature-taking and attendance-taking.

  • Conduct Class Prayer. (Class Prayer Leader to lead, class to follow)

  • Conduct National Pledge. (Class Chairman to lead, class to follow)

3. If you are sick and are not able to do the HBL, you must email your Form tutors and your subject teachers accordingly. Subsequently, you should see a doctor and obtain an MC.

4. Expected behaviour for the duration of the HBL period:

o You should be at home and be punctual for your lessons.

o Keep your camera on your device on at all times during the lesson.

o Should the lesson be in google-meet mode, mute the microphone unless instructed otherwise by the teacher.

o Be appropriately attired. You should be in the Casual Friday Polo-Shirt or the school PE/Fraternity T-Shirt.

o Politely ask your family for privacy (as best as they can).

o Participate in your online lesson with your teachers. DO NOT engage in other activities, online or otherwise.

o Un-mute the microphone when the teacher engages you to speak/answer. Then take turns to speak when called by your teacher.

o If you are using Google Meet, you may want to type your questions on the chat group so that the lesson proceeds smoothly.

o Complete your assignments and tasks according to the allocated time.

o Sit upright and locate yourself at an appropriate place at your home (not on the bed)

o Be respectful and maintain discipline at all times. Focus on the lesson and don’t be distracted by other personal activities.

o Express gratitude to your teacher at the end of the lesson.

o Observe proper decorum and social media etiquette e.g. do not screenshot the videos of tutors teaching and edit it inappropriately and post it on any social media platforms.

Please keep in mind that your teachers have put in the effort to plan your HBL and I trust that you will do your part by participating actively to make the most from it.

Please also know that should you ever need any additional support, your teachers and I are but an email away. Do not hesitate to reach out to us if you need to.

Please take care of yourselves and your loved ones during this period.

Stay home, stay safe, stay happy, stay connected, and stay healthy.

Socially Distant (but an email away),

Ms Chew

10 Feb 2020 (Mon) - Term 1 Week 6

Dear Parents and Students,

"Let's continue to take sensible precautions, help one another, stay calm, and carry on with our lives.." PM Lee

The celebration of Yuan Xiao Jie (Chap Go Meh) and Thaipusam, must have been muted, but it carried on, with measures in place and necessary precautions. It is apt that as we commemorate Total Defence Day on Monday, we keep in mind on the theme for 2020 - Our Unity is our Strength. Together We Keep Singapore Strong. Let us work together, looking out for each other.

20 Jan 2020 (Mon) - [Welcome back]

Dear Parents & Students of 2020 Year 4 OP Cohort

Welcome to our Year 4 website.

This website is a platform to update parents on the programmes/activities that will take place for our Year Four boys in the year 2020.

We hope that with better communication, the school together with the parents are better able to support our boys to maximise their academic learning potential and to develop our boys into Men of Integrity and Men for Others.

It is also our wish that there is an effective mode of communication between parents and class tutors for the development of our boys.

We welcome your valuable feedback anytime to better support your child's needs. Please feel free to provide us your suggestion.

Yours Sincerely,

Chew Hui Fang

OPAM Y4 HOL
